Over one hundred million people around the globe have been injected with contrast during an MRI scan in good faith that it was the right thing to do. But what if that trust was misplaced? And what if, rather than MRI contrasts being essential for making diagnoses that save many lives, they seldom add additional information that can’t be obtained in other ways? Contrary to the claims that MRI contrast is safe, it’s now indisputable that it’s retained longterm inside your body, while there’s no evidence this is without ramifications.
This is the reality that more and more people are waking up to every day. Discover the horrifying truth that this billion-dollar industry is trying to hide from you.
Are you considering getting an MRI scan with contrast? You probably don’t have all the information you need to make an informed decision. But after reading this book, you’ll be armed with all the tools you need to confidently talk to your doctor about whether MRI contrast really is the right choice for you.
And if you’ve already had one or more injections, you’ll get clear on the insidious damage gadolinium from MRI contrasts can wreak inside your body, because the research on how gadolinium toxicity can affect your health is steadily mounting.
Nutrition and lifestyle expert, Dr Catriona Walsh, explains how MRI contrast can contribute to you feeling run-down, burnt-out, unwell, and in pain. Her own experiences recovering from MRI contrast toxicity, combined with her medical training and education in nutrition and lifestyle coaching, place her in a unique position to understand the science behind gadolinium toxicity and come up with powerful, natural strategies to help you combat it. She’ll point you towards some actions you can start taking today to help counteract the harm and begin on the road to recovery from MRI contrast side effects.
As someone who has experienced gadolinium toxicity firsthand and helped hundreds of patients confront this issue over nearly three decades, Dr Walsh’s book is an important addition to one’s medical library, be it for patient or practitioner.
Contrasts: More Than Meets the MRI offers a well-researched and resourced primer on what we know about contrast materials, mechanism of action and health implications. It is the long overdue informed consent not routinely offered by standard of care as well as a call to action to find safer methods of imaging to better serve our patients.
And finally, Dr Walsh offers sound advice on how best to recover from gadolinium toxicity including many diet and lifestyle recommendations that lead to overall optimal health and mitochondrial repair.
A comprehensive, insightful and compelling read, written in an accessible and personable manner by Dr Walsh. A must-read for anyone who is struggling to make sense of their health issues and suspect such issues began or were compounded by a contrast MRI.
This book clearly highlights for both professionals and the public, the concerning absence of informed consent, when it comes to outlining risk within our healthcare system.
As someone poisoned by Gadolinium – and with a non-medical degree – I found this book incredibly insightful on the condition(s) I now suffer related to my experience of having an MRI with contrast; conditions that have baffled some of the most well respected Drs in the UK. The author carefully talks you through what might be going on due to this experience – the changes in your body that you’ve been struggling to understand make sense, as she explains the invader you now have in your body, explains how it is disrupting humans in terms that are suitable for both a physician and a layperson, but holds your hand and brings you through the other side with her warm manner and often wry observations.
In truth, Gadolinium poisoning will possibly turn out to be a horrific tragedy, but people like Dr Catriona Walsh are at the coal face now, doing all they can to support victims, to bravely share their own story and to enlighten others. This book, I am sure, will be welcomed by a wide audience of people exposed to Gadolinium, those considering having Gadolinium and hopefully by physicians ordering or administering Gadolinium, who for years have wrongly been told it leaves the body in 48 hours or is some sort of inert dye.
5 stars.
Dr. Walsh offers hope for those who have suffered with gadolinium toxicity. CONTRAST should be read by not only the patient dealing with this ensuing nightmare, but every radiologist in practice!
CONTRAST will be helpful to those who are chronically ill and wondering, “What happened to me?!” It shines a light in the very dark room and exposes the truth behind unnecessary medications and the side effects that follow administration. You will laugh, cry and scream when you read this book. But mostly, you will be happy you finally understand what happened to you.
